A Beautifully Empty Canvas

A Beautifully Empty Canvas

The future remains uncertain, and so it should, for it is the canvas upon which we paint our desires. thus always the human condition faces a beautifully empty canvas. We possess only this moment in which to dedicate ourselves continuously to the sacred presence which we share and create.
— Jessica, in Frank Herbert's Children of Dune

Life is tricky. When at a crossroad, "doing the right thing" seems to mean so many different things, depending on whom you ask. Stuck with this dilemma, I chose to project myself in the future and tried to tell of this decision I made. What is the story I would like to tell about those years?

Thus I chose to drop "everything", meaning leaving work, selling the condo, changing dojo, and moving to Toronto, and back to school, starting a PhD.

Life opened the way; he will came from the heart. I stare at the now empty canvas. Both thrilled and terrified by its emptiness.

Until I see a small speck of blood on the canvas: the love I feel. This is the anchor from where to start.
